The drone industry is evolving fast, and with it, the concept of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is emerging as a major disruptor in urban and regional transportation. AAM is poised to revolutionize the way we move around cities and encompasses a range of new vehicles, including electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and drones. These will enable faster and more efficient transport for both people and goods, which is why the market for AAM as a whole (including eVTOLs, drone delivery, vertiports and UTM) is forecast to reach US$20.8 billion by 2035.

Jan Vana is director at WheelTug, an innovative company in the field of electric taxiing. He leads the overall business development and he is primarily responsible for relationships with airlines, aircraft operators, airports, air navigation services, and MROs. ADW talked with Vana about autonomous vehicles in the aviation industry.

Ricky Sandhu, Founder and Chairman of Urban-Air Port – opened the first operational vertiport prototype for EVTOLs in the world - visited Amsterdam last month. During the World Aviation Festival we were able to ask the young entrepreneur a few questions. “EVTOL companies recognize that they need to work with the infrastructure provider to make sure that we understand what their vehicles need and vice versa.”
