Amsterdam Drone Week (ADW) continues to push the boundaries of urban  mobility, and one of the most promising initiatives emerging this year is the Mobility Hubs Working  Group. Roel Brandt, Advisory Group Manager for Traffic  at Antea Group, provided a glimpse into the transformative vision behind this working group, shedding light on the role of mobility hubs in integrating drone operations into existing transport systems.

NASA’s contributions to Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) have paved the way for significant advancements in commercial drone operations. The Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) recent authorization of Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations in shared airspace marks a major milestone. This breakthrough allows multiple U.S. companies to operate drones beyond the operator’s line of sight, setting a precedent for the future of unmanned aerial systems.

The latest Industry Update from Amsterdam Drone Week (ADW) brought together a diverse panel of experts, showcasing developments in air mobility across the globe. The session was moderated by Munish Khurana from EUROCONTROL, who set the stage by emphasizing the need for global collaboration in air mobility. "We want to listen to our panelists today about what is working well and where they are finding challenges," she said. The event highlighted progress in Japan, Europe, and the United States, presenting a multifaceted view of the current state of urban air mobility.

Insights from the latest ADW Industry Update - 'Collaboration will be the key to success'

ADW recently launched a new advisory group focused on 'Digital Infrastructure,' aiming to shape the future of the air mobility industry. Co-President of the Global UTM Association (GUTMA), Sebastian Babiarz, shared his insights on the motivation behind this group, its significance for the air mobility and drone industry's future, and the goals for the upcoming ADW from 8 - 10 April 2025.
